Our Retirement

Our Retirement

The day Thread & Eye first opened, October 5, 1999, was a scary day. Although we had managed a non-profit organization for 14 years, we had never run a retail business, had no customer service experience or taught a class. Never dealt with inventory control, hadn’t framed someone else’s work and never developed and maintained a website. It was a steep learning curve in framing, web management, customer care and running a needleart store.

At the time, we had loved cross stitch for 16 years and wanted the cross stitch community in south-western Ontario to grow. In the early T&E years, we took many courses to improve our knowledge and skills. Through classes, retreats and 1000’s of consultations at the cutting table and framing desk, we loved sharing what we learned with our stitching friends. It’s been such a joy to witness improvement in confidence and skills as you’ve completed so many projects. Neale’s framed well over 6,000 of them!!! It’s been an amazing 19 years!!

While a wonderful privilege and journey, all good things eventually come to an end. Although a difficult decision, there’s many contributing factors to help make this decision. At this stage of our lives, we’ve decided to set our sights on new adventures, stitch more and do a little travelling. So we are closing Thread & Eye, effective April 28, 2018.

Thank you for allowing us the privilege and pleasure of serving you while developing so many great friendships, chatting about some of your personal triumphs and tragedies in the midst of coordinating 1000’s of stitching projects. We have thoroughly enjoyed our time at Thread & Eye and will definitely miss the many wonderful stitchers who have frequented the shop.

Our doors will close for the final time on Saturday, April 28 at 4:00 pm. We wish you all the very best. It’s now up to you to keep the love and enjoyment of stitching alive.

Your stitching friends,

Kathy & Neale
